White-bellied Sea-eagle

This Bird came into care with blunt trauma wounds to chest and wing, she had a hole in her chest, which very much looked like a bullet wound at first, however later found not to be. There was a lot of dead tissue surrounding the wing wounds, therefore the birds prognosis was guarded. About 10 days after first coming into care another wound on the opposite wing appeared which was fly struck (within 24 hrs). Unfortunately due to the amount of dead tissue, the bird could not have recovered enough to be 100% fit and sadly was euthanased.

Whistling Kite

This young female Whistling Kite was unlucky to catch a talon by a discarded fish hook hanging from a tree branch overhanging a river. However, was lucky to be spotted by a passing Fisheries Ranger minutes from drowning. She had fully recovered within a week and was returned back to her river.

Pacific Baza (Juv)

This Juv. baza came into care as an orphaned branchling. He would not self feed in captivity, however was very calm and gobbled up pinkie mice/rats and insects when offered. We soft released him here and was support fed (pinkies) for about 6 weeks, letting us know by calling from a tree nearby. We constantly observed him crashing into trees, emerging with a large insect in his talons. every couple of months he would fly by letting us know he's doing Ok (well thats what we would like to think) What a joy he was.
